We are getting towards the end of the semester and need to find ways to add more gameplay to our game. I came up with a few ideas and created two prototypes to figure out how to make the puzzles.
The first involves rocks falling from the ceiling. The idea is that the player must avoid these rocks by listening to the beat of the music. A video of my prototype is below.
There are probably too many rocks in this prototype. It gets a bit chaotic. There is actually a rhythm to the rocks but you don't have time to observe it. Also, the ray sensor used to detect when the player is smashed is a little iffy at best. Future iterations will fix these problems.
The second prototype involves pressing a series of buttons at the right time, in the right order so you can activate a power generator. My prototype uses the A, S, and D keys to activate the buttons for simplicity's sake. Again, the buttons light up with the rhythm of the music. Cluing the player in on when to press the buttons.
